Considering the well-known influence of diet on membrane fatty acid profile and on the gut microbiota, this study intends to investigate whether whey-derived COAG compounds can modulate phospholipid fatty acid profiles in colon mucous tissues and whether they have an effect on the anti-inflammatory state and on the gut microbiota composition in a murine model system. The reason for evaluating this compound is to test for its possible preventive properties against obesity, thus contributing to finding new utility for whey discharge.
