Statue of youthful Hermes

Hermes was a son of Zeus and the Pleiad Maia, and he was the second youngest of the Greek gods, known as a trickster, patron of thieves, travelers, athletes, and leader of souls into the afterlife. This statue captures a young Hermes, holding his main symbol, the kerykeion (caduceus in latin): a winged staff, usually with two snakes wrapped around it. The sculpture is a copy of a work from the 4th century BC.赫尔墨斯（Hermes）为宙斯与普勒阿得斯（Pleiades）中的迈亚（Maia）所生，是希腊诸神中第二年轻的神祇，以诡诈闻名，同时为窃贼、旅行者与运动员的庇护神，亦是引领亡魂赴往冥界的引路者。这座雕像塑造了青年赫尔墨斯的形象，他手持其核心象征物——克律萨俄耳杖（kerykeion，拉丁语称caduceus）：一根带有双翼的权杖，其上通常缠绕两条毒蛇。该雕塑为公元前4世纪原作的复制品。
