Development of protocol to maintain winter mobility of different classes of pervious concrete pavement based on porosity

The raw images should be cropped to 400×400-pixel square images to avoid edge effects during the analysis process. Using ImageJ software, the cropped images can be binarized with the Otsu thresholding technique to isolate the voids from the solids on the basis of the pixel values. When the pixel value are lower than the assigned threshold, it is counted as a void and changed to zero (black color) and vice versa. Moreover, the binarized slices can be used to reconstruct a 3D image of the scanned PC sample with MATLAB image processing toolbox to obtain the total porosity.
