The dataset comprises the classroom observation data collected in 10 secondary schools of Gasabo district, Rwanda. Using the Classroom Observation Protocol for Undergraduate STEM (COPUS). In total are 30 observations correspond to 30 teaching period as one chemistry class was observed per school three times at different moments between May to July 2019. The duration of the class period is 40 minutes. Schools were selected to represent the geographic location of the Gasabo District. The focus is the second grade of the secondary school in Rwanda (S2). The null hypothesis was that there is no significant difference in both teaching and learning activities in chemistry classes based on the time spent on each activity in relation to the active or passive learning and teaching process. The observations were recorded in each 2-min time interval.
本数据集收录了卢旺达加萨博区(Gasabo District)10所中学的课堂观察数据。本次数据采集采用大学生STEM课堂观察协议(Classroom Observation Protocol for Undergraduate STEM,简称COPUS)。本次共获取30条课堂观察记录,对应30个教学时段:每所学校的化学课程于2019年5月至7月间的不同时间点被观摩3次,单节课堂时长为40分钟。入选学校的选取兼顾了加萨博区的地理分布代表性。本研究聚焦卢旺达中学二年级(S2)。本次研究的原假设为:以主动或被动教与学过程为参照,基于各项活动耗时的化学课堂教与学活动不存在显著差异。所有课堂观察均以2分钟为时间间隔完成记录。
