In April 2023, a scientific cruise was conducted onboard the R/V Yuezhanyou Jiuhao in the northern South China Sea, covering a total of 20 sampling stations. The Midi multi-net system (aperture area: 0.25 m²; mesh size: 200 μm; HYDRO-BIOS, Germany) was vertically towed at a constant speed of 0.5 m/s through five discrete depth layers: 0–25 m, 25–50 m, 50–100 m, 100–200 m, and 200–300 m. Meanwhile, environmental data including seawater temperature, salinity, chlorophyll-a concentration, and dissolved oxygen concentration were measured using the RBRmaestro3 multi-parameter water quality monitor (RBR Ltd., Canada).
