Beta-ID

As part of the public test phase (‘Public Beta’) for the introduction of the national electronic identity (e-ID), the e-ID implementation programme provides an integration environment. Since no real e-IDs are yet being issued in this environment, the Beta ID has been introduced.

The Beta ID is a pseudo-credential that can be used within this environment for testing purposes. Since no identity check is performed and all information is self-declared, it is not proof of identity. However, because the Beta ID contains the same data fields (attributes) as the future e-ID, verifiers can connect their systems at an early stage, test them and simulate a wide variety of use cases. This allows, for example, integrations to be prepared or new use cases to be developed.
