MMV026468 was identified as a picomolar inhibitor of blood-stage P. falciparum. Phenotyping assays, including IPP rescue of parasite growth inhibition, demonstrated that it targets MEP isoprenoid precursor biosynthesis. Resistant parasites were isolated, and WGS and RNAseq were performed to identify the mechanism of resistance.
