Spectral analysis of the jet in the Seyfert 2 Galaxy NGC 6217 with XMM-Newton

The nuclear starburst, flat spectrum spiral NGC6217 offers the possibility toresolve spectrally with XMMNewton its onesided jetlike radio and Xrayfilament, extending out to 2.7. (18.8 kpc) in the SW of the galaxy. According toROSAT observations, the jet.s Xray spectrum seems to be harder than that ofNGC6217 and its luminosity in the 0.52.0 keV band virgul1.7 10E39 erg/s. NGC6217stands out as the fourth nearest jet galaxy known. Here, we propose a deepXMMNewton observation of this extraordinary source to resolve the jet from theemission of the galaxy and do a detailed spectral investigation of the jet. truncated!, Please see actual data for full text [truncated!, Please see actual data for full text]
