Microbiome dynamics following experimental evolution

A population of Drosophila melanogaster derived from a multi-parent population was exposed to 65 generations of dietary selection followed by 38 generations of inbreeding in common garden to investigate the effects of long-term dietary selection on microbiota richness dynamics and host longevity under stressful nutritional conditions. The experiment provides insight into how nutritional selection shapes evolution of host-microbiota fitness-related interactions under stress.
