This repository contains the data and scripts used to reproduce the transport-proxy analyses and figures for the manuscript Regional sea-level variability captures low-frequency transport through the Gulf of Mexico gateways. The main data product is gulf_gateway_transport_proxies.nc, a NetCDF file containing the low-frequency observed transport records and the altimetry-derived transport proxies for four gateway sections: Florida Cable, Old Bahama Channel Canek, Florida Canek, and Yucatan Canek. The file includes section-specific proxy transports, observed transports where available, observation uncertainty estimates, and flags identifying calibration and withheld-validation periods. Missing values are represented as NaNs. The Scripts.zip file contains the main MATLAB scripts used to generate the manuscript figures and supporting analyses. The extern.zip file contains ancillary MATLAB functions required by the figure scripts. Together, these files provide the data and code needed to reproduce the figures and tables presented in the manuscript, subject to access to the external source datasets cited in the paper. The transport proxies were obtained using partial least squares regression between low-pass-filtered observed transport records and regional satellite sea-level anomaly fields from the Copernicus Marine Service altimetry product. The proxies extend the transport estimates over the satellite-altimetry era from 1993 to 2025 and are intended to support analysis of low-frequency transport variability across the Caribbean Sea, Gulf of Mexico, Florida Straits, and Bahamas gateway system.
