We recruited 19 idiopathic epileptic dogs and 17 healthy controls which met stringent inclusion criteria and characterized their faecal microbiome by 16S rRNA sequencing. We revealed that idiopathic epileptic dogs host a dysbiotic faecal microbiota, characterized by a reduced bacterial diversity, loss of beneficial bacterial genera, and overgrowth of opportunistic.
