2d-RAD sequencing of eight common carp strains including Koi (Cyprinus carpio var. koi)

The differentiation and variation of skin color in Koi involve multiple biological processes, including courtship, mimicry, camouflage, and environmental adaptation. The genetic regulatory mechanisms are complex and involve single gene or multiple genes, and epigenetic processes. SNP loci associated with body color were identified by genome sequencing. The annotated genes were used to further investigate the molecular regulatory mechanisms of body color formation and variation.
