Varroa Detection Acoustic Dataset – Upload 2 (Raw WAV Files)

This dataset contains raw hive audio recordings and spectrograms collected throughout April 2026 as part of an ongoing acoustic study of honey bee colony behaviour in the Jimboomba region of Queensland, Australia. The recordings were captured using a microphone mounted beneath the hive through an acoustic bottom board, providing clear transmission of the colony’s internal acoustic structure. This upload includes unsliced WAV files, spectrogram images, and a README describing the recording method and file organisation. All audio is presented exactly as recorded, with no filtering, processing, or interpretation applied. The purpose of this dataset is to preserve the original acoustic material for future analysis, comparison, and method development. The April 2026 recordings capture a wide range of natural hive states, environmental conditions, and early stress-related acoustic patterns that were not recognised at the time of recording but have since become important reference material. This upload forms part of a larger longitudinal archive documenting the colony’s acoustic behaviour over time. This is the second curated dataset (“Upload 2”) in the April 2026 series.
