One day, the two friends chatted about this and that and went back home together. They walked along the main road and found an old black haversack on the road while they walked pretty far. As soon as they saw that old black haversack, they coerced against each other even before they opened what was inside. "I saw it first," the one said, and the other also said, "I also found this, and I will open it." They extorted and started to fight. While they were hitting each other forcibly with one another, an older man came to them. "Hey, two boys, I dropped a black bag here just now. Have you seen it?" asked the elderly man. 今述一则两友相争的寓言。往昔有二挚友，其一志在经商致富，欲开铺营生；另一则谦和恭顺，留在家中侍奉父母，助其劳作。一日，二人闲话家常后结伴归家，行至远郊主路时，忽见道旁有一陈旧黑布背包（haversack）。二人尚未查看包内物件，便先为争夺背包争执起来。一人言道："我先看见的！"另一人亦道："是我先发现的，理应由我来开包查看。"二人争执不休，继而大打出手。正当两人扭打之际，一位老者缓步走来："两位少年，方才我在此处遗落了一只黑包，不知二位是否见过？"那侍奉父母、性情沉稳的少年答道："哦，爷爷，您说的可是这只包？"老者应道："正是，这正是我要寻的包袱。"老者接过背包后，那一心想致富的少年问道："爷爷，这该不会是钱袋吧？"老者答道："怎会是钱袋？我年迈清贫，何来钱袋？我平日里靠缝纫营生罢了。"少年又问："那这便是装纽扣的袋子了？"老者如是解释。此时二人事已大打出手，浑身狼狈。老者遂对二人言道："你们为争抢此物扭打不休，反倒弄丢了身上的纽扣。""因此我会将这包中的纽扣平分予你二人。"说罢，老者将包内纽扣均分，赠予两位少年。此故事告诫世人：切莫为外物与挚友相争。
