LOW Postitorvi - Post horn

Postitorvea soitettiin yleensä ratsain liikkuvan postiljoonin tai postivaunujen saapumisen tai lähtemisen merkiksi. A post horn was used to signal the arrival or departure of a mounted postman or mail coach. The use of the post horn declined during the 19th century but it is still a symbol of the post. This horn is a gift from the Finnish postal administration to captain Carl Korsman and dates from the late 19th century.
