Decaying Gingko Leaf Biofilm

16S and ITS sequences from biofilms on decaying Ginkgo leaves. The leaves were placed in an aquarium in various sediment types and were either floating or buried. The goal was to understand the community composition of floating and buried leaves in each sediment type. Particularly, we were looking for decomposing and biomineralizating bacteria and fungi to determine the role of microbial biofilms in plant preservation or decay.
