Thailand has been facing stray dog problems for a long time. The Post Today(2015), commenting on a survey of the stray dog population in Thailand by theDepartment of Livestock Development in 2014 said there were more than 700,000 straydogs in the country, Bangkok alone has more than 100,000 stray dogs. The risingnumber of stray dogs has increased the concerns for human hygiene and public health. Moreover, it causes a bad environment for tourists as stray dogs begging for food onthe streets pose a nuisance for foreigners. The government is trying to tackle this problem as they came up with manypolicies, such as animal shelters, educational programs, and dog registration. But theproblem seems to remain unsolved because the real cause of the problem comes fromthe pet owners failing to take care of their dogs and abandon them without being spayedor neutered.Hence, to educate people about the policy, it is crucial to understand people’s attitudestoward stray dog population control in order to communicate in an effective way andalso acknowledge people about the policy and law to enforce the right action on thisproblem.
