Scope and content: The handwritten note on the back reads 'Ad.9. Michael Farrell aet 50 adm.d Jan.y 10.1832 states that 4 years ago a tumour appeared on the inside of the thigh about a hands breadth above the knee joint, it was the size of a hen egg, continued stationary for 6 months, at the end of which period another tumour formed below it, over the inner side of the knee joint, gradually enlarged & reached its present size about two months ago, it is now 7 ½ inches in length at its base, but the extent of surface from one extremity to the other is one foot; its breadth is 8 inches, it lies altogether to the inside of the joint & extends from about four inches above to 3 inches below the joint, at its upper extremity it is contracted for about two inches, the extent of the first tumour, it then swells out into a tumour as large as a moderate sized melon, its surface is uneven & elastic; in some parts, there is a distinct fluctuation; at these points the skin is red & thin, the superficial veins are dilated, in the centre of the tumour, there is an ulcer about the size of a crown piece, which formed 9 weeks ago from a small pimple, which the patient picked; the tumour is moveable but more fixed along the inner side of the patella than elsewhere, it apparently grows from the fibrous structure, the motions of the joint are perfect, the veins of the leg are tortuous to a great degree & enlarged, the inguinal glands swollen but not painful; below the centre of the thigh there is an enlarged & [?] lymphatic & several others about the knee, he has had a cough for the last eight months & has latterly been unable to rest at night; a few days after his admission and incision was made along the outer margin of the tumour, the knife passed through a thick fibrocartilaginous structure, supposed to be the patella softened & diseased, the limb was then amp.d above the knee. 数据集范围与内容：病历背面的手写记录内容为：“住院编号Ad.9，患者迈克尔·法雷尔，年龄50岁，于1832年1月10日入院。患者自述4年前，于膝关节上方约一掌宽的大腿内侧出现一枚鸡蛋大小的肿瘤，此后6个月内肿瘤无明显进展；该阶段结束后，原肿瘤下方又新发一枚累及膝关节内侧的肿瘤，该肿物逐渐增大，约2个月前达到当前体积：肿瘤基底长约7.5英寸，两端间的体表跨度达1英尺，宽度为8英寸。肿瘤整体位于膝关节内侧，范围从膝关节上方约4英寸处延伸至膝关节下方3英寸处；肿瘤上端缩窄约2英寸，对应最初肿瘤的累及范围，随后膨大成一枚中等大小的甜瓜样肿物，表面凹凸不平且质地有弹性，部分区域可触及明显波动感；该部位皮肤发红且菲薄，浅静脉扩张。肿瘤中央可见一处直径约等同于1克朗硬币的溃疡，该溃疡由患者抠抓的一枚小丘疹发展而来，形成至今已有9周。肿瘤可被推动，但沿髌骨内侧的固定性较其他区域更强，推测肿瘤起源于纤维组织。患者膝关节活动度完全正常，腿部静脉显著迂曲扩张，腹股沟淋巴结肿大但无压痛；大腿中部下方可见一枚肿大的[?]淋巴管（结），膝关节周围亦有数枚肿大淋巴结。患者近8个月来出现咳嗽症状，近期夜间无法平卧休息。患者入院数日后，术者沿肿瘤外缘做切口，手术刀穿透一层增厚的纤维软骨结构，推测为软化病变的髌骨，随后于膝关节上方截肢。术后肿瘤复发。详见目录第4号第667页。[?]血肿 [?] 随后 [?] 残端”
