Alluvial resources and massive rocks in Rhône-Alpes

This study, carried out between December 2009 and January 2010, follows a request from DREAL Rhône-Alpes dated 04 December 2009. The order was for the provision of a regional quarry material resource map based on previous work.
Between 1994 and 1996, the BRGM had developed departmental maps of quarry materials resources to prepare the resource component of the various Departmental Career Schemes published between 1998 and 2006.
These maps broken down the different geological formations into three classes of areas (e.g., areas with favourable elements, areas with favourable prejudices and heterogeneous areas).
This study therefore consisted of retrieving data from these old works, agglomerating them and harmonising their contours in particular at the departmental boundaries.
This resource map is essentially a reflection of aggregate potential as explained in this report and does not fully reflect industrial rock and mineral resources.
It is recalled that the accuracy scale of the data provided in this study is 1/100 000th, which corresponds to the precision scale of the geological information of the BRGM geological maps used for digitising the data between 1994 and 1996.
