Distributional impacts of cash transfers on the multidimensional poverty of refugees: The Emergency Social Safety Net in Turkey

This code accompanies the paper Robson, Vollmer, Doğan & Grede, (2024), “Distributional Impacts of Cash Transfers on the Multidimensional Poverty of Refugees: The Emergency Social Safety Net in Turkey”, World Development. In the paper, we analyse the impact of the Emergency Social Safety Net (ESSN) cash programme on the multidimensional poverty of refugees in Turkey, using a purpose-built Refugee Multidimensional Poverty Index. We conduct a causal analysis of both average and distributional impacts of the ESSN on the incidence and intensity of multidimensional poverty, and decompose effects for separate dimensions and indicators of poverty. Here, we provide code for the paper in R and Stata. In the R Script, we include programmes to estimate probabilistic potential outcomes, using the beta-binomial distribution. The data we used was the Comprehensive Vulnerability Monitoring Exercise (CVME), is a confidential, so is not uploaded here. Please contact us if you have any questions.

本代码配套Robson、Vollmer、Doğan与Grede（2024）发表于《世界发展》（World Development）的论文《现金转移支付对难民多维贫困的分布性影响：土耳其紧急社会安全网项目》。在该论文中，我们依托定制开发的难民多维贫困指数（Refugee Multidimensional Poverty Index），分析土耳其紧急社会安全网（Emergency Social Safety Net, ESSN）现金救助项目对当地难民多维贫困的影响。我们针对该项目对多维贫困发生率与贫困深度的平均影响及分布性影响开展因果分析，并针对不同贫困维度与贫困指标进行效应分解。本仓库提供本文对应的R与Stata代码，其中R脚本包含基于贝塔二项分布（beta-binomial distribution）估计概率潜在结果的程序。本研究使用的综合脆弱性监测调查（Comprehensive Vulnerability Monitoring Exercise, CVME）数据属于保密数据集，故未随本仓库上传。若有任何疑问，请与我们联系。
