This dataset includes only the monthly FireCCI51 burned area grids for 2023 and 2024. The files are derived from the MODIS FireCCI v5.1 product, developed within the ESA Fire Disturbance project of the Climate Change Initiative (CCI), but only the burned area variable aggregated onto a regular global 0.25-degree grid is provided here. Specifically, the dataset includes only the burned_area variable, expressed in m². No additional auxiliary variables from the original product are included, standard error, fraction of observed area, fraction of burnable area, or other ancillary layers. The files are organized by year and month for 2023 and 2024, and represent the monthly burned area in each cell of the global grid. These data were used as input to train the harmonisation model applied in the development of the MRBA60 product (Torres-Vázquez et al., 2026). The data are distributed in NetCDF (.nc) format, using a WGS84 geographic coordinate system and a spatial resolution of 0.25 degrees.
