RECONCEPTUALIZING ENGLISH LANGUAGE TEACHING IN THE DIGITAL ERA: INTEGRATING COGNITIVE, LINGUOCULTURAL, INNOVATIVE, AND ASSESSMENT-ORIENTED APPROACHES
收藏资源简介:
The rapid evolution of educational technologies, globalization, and artificial intelligence has fundamentally transformed the field of English Language Teaching (ELT). Traditional teacher-centered instructional models are gradually being replaced by learner-centered, technology-supported, and cognitively informed pedagogical approaches that emphasize communication, critical thinking, intercultural competence, and continuous assessment. Modern language education requires educators to integrate multiple theoretical perspectives, including cognitive linguistics, linguocultural studies, digital pedagogy, innovative instructional strategies, and evidence-based assessment practices. Rather than treating these components as separate dimensions of teaching, contemporary educational research increasingly highlights the importance of combining them into a unified instructional framework capable of addressing the diverse needs of twenty-first-century learners. This article proposes an interdisciplinary perspective on English language teaching by examining the interconnected roles of digital learning environments, innovative teaching methodologies, cognitive and linguocultural competence, formative and summative assessment, and content-based instruction. The study synthesizes current scholarly literature while demonstrating how these approaches complement one another in improving learners' communicative competence, learner autonomy, motivation, and academic achievement. Furthermore, the paper discusses the growing significance of authentic language use across different discourse contexts and argues that integrating linguistic, cultural, technological, and assessment-oriented perspectives contributes to a more sustainable and effective language learning environment. The proposed framework provides practical implications for English language teachers, curriculum designers, and educational policymakers seeking to improve instructional quality in both face-to-face and online learning settings.
