Paired duodenal and stool sample sequencing of hyperglycemic and normoglycemic patients

Duodenum is a site for nutrient sensing, absorption and plays an important role in entero-insular signaling. Gut-interventional studies encompassing duodenal bypass, exclusion or resurfacing have witnessed significant improvement in overall metabolic health. The goal of the study was to investigate the relationship of (duodenal) mucosa associated bacteria and fecal bacteria with metabolic disease (Hyperglycemia). The parameters for duodenal microenvironment, permeability, oxygenation and systemic inflammation were also assessed in study subjects.
