The present work aims to provide an initial reflection on music as a vicarious medium, to be understood as a multimodal didactic device and useful to assume a plurality of diversified functions in the teaching-learning process. What emerges, on the one hand, is the vision of music as an inclusive mediator, capable of fostering didactic processes for everyone and for everyone; on the other hand, the possibility of realizing such a process through the structuring of diversified pathways, in which music becomes a flexible element, adaptable to change and to differences. Music, therefore, would seem to possess as a characteristic trait the possibility to make its user able to develop skills that are not only creative, but also of adaptation to the environment and to the other from oneself, according to the peculiar traits of vicariousness.
