Hairdressers and beauty salons; turnover development, 1993-2012

This table provides information on the evolution of the turnover of hairdressers and beauty salons (SBI 2008 code 9602).The evolution is reflected using indices (based on 2005) and as a percentage change from the same period of the previous year.

Changes as of 22 February 2013: This table ceased on 20 March 2013 and continued as "Cappers and Beauty Reconciliation;turnover development index 2010 = 100’.

Changes as of 14 January 2013: As of 1 October 2012, the VAT rate has been increased from 19 % to 21 %.
This means that as of 1 October, traders will have to pay more VAT on sold goods and services covered by the high rate.
The effect on gross turnover development depends on the extent to which and when this increased payment is passed on to the consumer.
Within the sector of hairdressers and beauty salons, about a third of the turnover falls under the high VAT rate.

When are new figures coming?

This table was discontinued on 20 March 2013.
The statistical examination which forms the basis of the results in this table has undergone a significant change from the date of publication of the first reporting period of 2013:
In 2013, from reference year 2005 to 2010 (2010 = 100), the weighting factors were updated and based on the year 2010.
When calculating indices, the weighting factors reflect the proportion with which the underlying outcomes count in a publication group.
Because of these changes, CBS has released a new table.
