Port calls and vessel trajectory dataset in the Caribbean with accurate port quays survey

This dataset gathers information on maritime traffic in the Caribbean for the whole 2019 year. It is to be complemented with a data paper describing the data. The dataset consists of thirteen files, each representing one table, which are: - A list of ports, their characteristics and the geometry of their quays, in the file ports.csv (*) - The port calls that occurred in those ports, with their characteristics, in the file portcalls.csv (*) - The stopping location of vessels during those calls, in the form of clusters, in the file berths.csv (*) - The daily absence or presence, and if so in which area, of vessels, in the file areapresence.csv - The type of vessels as known from a fleet registry, in the file vesseltype_original.csv - The type of vessels inferred from computed data, in the file vesseltype_enriched.csv - The semantic trajectories of vessels when in the area of interest, in the file trajectories.csv - The port to port aggregated traffic by vessel type, in the file segments_port2port.csv (*) - The port to territory aggregated traffic by vessel type, in the file segments_port2territory.csv (*) - The traffic in ports with ports calls and statistics on tonnage and age, in the file ports_traffic.csv - UN ground truth data on the number of port calls by country, in the file ungt_country_portcalls.csv - UN ground truth data on port call statistics by country, in the file ungt_country_portstats.csv - UN ground truth data on container vessel throughput, in the file ungt_cont_throughput.csv In addition to CSV files, the five tables with a geometry column, marked with a (*) in the list above, are provided in both geojson and shapefile (with .cpg, .prj, .shp and .shx files) formats. All files use EPSG:4326. The first 10 files are licenced under CC-BY-NC-SA-4.0. The last 3 files (UN ground truth data) are licenced under CC BY 3.0 IGO Data is located in the whole of the Caribbean, covering the Caribbean Sea, the Gulf of Mexico and their immediate surroundings, for the whole year 2019. Provided timestamps are in universal time. The description of data and the methods that led to its generation are to be presented in detail in an article also entitled "Port calls and vessel trajectory dataset in the Caribbean with accurate port quays survey" in the Journal Data In Brief. Upon publication, the doi of this paper will be added to the description of this dataset.
