This dataset contains the CAD models for four design iterations of the mixing, measuring and working container for the cfDNA extraction cartridge. These containers represent the main design concept iterations. Each file contains one of the container designs in correct upright position, where the top connections are for pneumatic pressure and bottom connections/channels for liquid, except for `Container-2D-5` where both the topmost and bottom connections are for liquid transfer with the pneumatic connection in between. Placement for the magnet used for the collection of magnetic particles is the shallow bottom part of the containers from the side of the open face in the models except for the `Container-2D-5`, where it is from the side of the grid. For all the containers except for the `Container-T27.2`, mixing of the liquid is based on material transfer between the two containers or from/to the container. In `Container-T27.2`, air is introduced from the bottom inlet and bubbles are used to mix the liquid. For models where two containers are present, the container without a more shallow section at the bottom is the secondary, measuring container used for transfers during mixing process and for measuring in the reagents.
Prototype components from the designs were manufactured with various methods, including CNC milling from polycarbonate sheet material, vacuum forming from polypropylene films and 3D printing using stereolithography (SLA) technology. Photographs of such prototype components are provided in the png-files.
