The dataset comprised eight cnidarian species spanning the major lineages—Hexacorallia (Nematostella vectensis, Nv; Stylophora pistillata, S), Octocorallia (Xenia umbellata, Xu; Xenia sp. Carnegie, Xe; Dendronephthya gigantea, Dg), Scyphozoa (Aurelia aurita, Aa), Cubozoa (Morbakka virulenta, Mv), and Hydrozoa (Hydra vulgaris, Hv)—alongside four non-cnidarian metazoans: Homo sapiens (Hs), Mus musculus (Mm), Drosophila melanogaster (Dm), and Strongylocentrotus purpuratus (Sp).
