Tuscany Region - PIT Topographic map

As part of the revision of the landscape rules of the Tuscany Region’s Territorial Address Plan (PIT), an updated topographic map was produced, at a scale of 1:50,000 and extended to the entire regional territory, capable of contextualising the thematic elaborations of the PIT. The paper aims to account for the morphology and characteristics of land cover, the articulation and hierarchy of transport infrastructures, the weaving of settlements, and was obtained through expeditious methods of generalization of the numerous geographical databases of great detail available at the regional territorial and environmental information system.The data processing took place in Quantum Gis environment. The QGIS project, fed by the series of topographic and thematic layers prepared through selection and generalisation of the available databases, is designed for a regional continuum and was aimed at the creation of raster cartography of elements corresponding to the cut of the Carta d’Italia 1:50000 IGM.
