New species of Hoplomutilla (Hymenoptera: Mutillidae) from the Amazonia-Cerrado transition, with sex association, new host record, additions to the key, and phylogenomic relationships. Hoplomutilla species and allies

We describe a new species of velvet ant (Mutillidae: Sphaeropthalminae) Hoplomutilla mendoca Vieira and Pitts, sp. nov.,from seasonally flooded forests at the transition zone between Amazonia and Cerrado, two major and threatened biomes in South America. Using a phylogenomic analysis of 806 shared UCE loci and maximum likelihood inference of a concatenated dataset, we recovered the new species closely related to Hoplomutilla bequaerti Mickel 1939, and discuss phylogenetic affinities of the genus and its allies.
