The bacterial isolate CS-1 was isolated from the gastrointestinal tract of the biting midge (Culicoides sonorensis) larvae, a vector of epizootic hemorrhagic disease virus (EHDV) and bluetongue virus (BTV). The goal of this study was to understand the role of bacteria on larval development and adult fitness and vector competence for different viruses.
