Owner-occupied dwellings; new and existing price index 2015=100

This table shows the price developments of homes purchased by households broken down by new and existing owner-occupied homes. It also publishes the number of transactions, the average selling price and the total sum of the sales prices of the properties sold.

Data available from: 1st quarter 2015

Status of the figures:
The figures associated with the Price Index Existing Houses are final.
The figures associated with the Price Index for New Buildings are provisional in the last period.
The figures corresponding to the numbers and average sales prices relating to the new construction and the total figures are provisional in the last four periods.

Amendments as of 6 October 2022:
These statistics shall be calculated using a European harmonised method. Within the European guidelines, the method for finalising figures has been changed. This method change has been implemented with the result that some digits with a maximum of 0.1 index point or 0.1 % development have been adjusted. The figures thus correspond to the figures on the eurostat website.

Amendments as of 9 January 2024:
Figures for the 3 rd quarter of 2023 have been added and the figures for the third quarter of 2022 have become final.

From the reporting period 2023 quarter 4, the base year will be adjusted from 2015 to 2020. In April 2024, the first figures of this new series appear. These figures come in a new StatLine table. The old series (base year =2015) continues to be consulted via StatLine, but will no longer be updated.
