Vaccinium macrocarpon cultivar:Ben Lear (CNJ99-125-1 inbred clone) Genome sequencing and assembly

The use of an inbred line allowed a preliminary assembly of the genome and the transcriptome, and identification of key genes and gene families in the American cranberry. The data generated not only allow for a myriad of studies of cranberry and related species, but also contribute to the mounting information available on higher plants. Together these data will help meet the challenges of feeding a growing world population and providing other needed plant products in the face of a changing climate and diminishing arable land.
