The energy industry was the largest contributor to Germany's carbon dioxide emissions in 2023, accounting for 33 percent of the total. Road transportation and the manufacturing followed, with shares of roughly 24 percent and 18 percent, respectively. The energy industry accounts for 30 percent of GHG emissions in Germany (excluding LULUCF).
