Developing sustainable affordable housing, 2011

This study examines how contemporary Australian affordable housing projects are designed, financed, developed and managed. The study aims to deepen understanding and raise awareness of the various trade-offs that shape the design and development of affordable housing projects in Australia, and to suggest ways in which such trade-offs can be managed to deliver outcomes that are socially, environmentally and financially sustainable. The study also offers a tool for project-level evaluation of affordable housing. The study consists of 8 data files that correspond to 8 affordable housing projects across New South Wales, Victoria and Queensland. These files have been merged to one data file with the placement of an arbritrary identifier, for ease of use. Topics in this study include satisfaction with home features, satisfaction of services in local areas, community activities, and household demographics.
