This dataset reports CTD and water column profiles near the GC-600 natural oil seep in the Gulf of Mexico aboard R/V Point Sur cruise PS19_05 in the Gulf of Mexico from 2018-09-01 to 2018-09-04. Water column profiles were collected at 15 stations and the data includes CTD, dissolved oxygen, Chlorophyll-a Dissolved Organic Matter (DOM) fluorescence (fDOM), altimeter, Photosynthetically Available Radiation (PAR) and Surficial PAR (SPAR). During this cruise, we performed a series of CTD casts in and around the site to constrain water column structure and radium isotopes. The main objective of the cruise was to use the ROV Odysseus from Pelagic Research Services to directly sample hydrocarbons emanating from MegaPlume at GC-600 (27˚ 22.199'N 90˚ 34.262'W). During our time at sea, we further aimed to sample radium isotopes in the water column profiles in an upstream-downstream transect around the work site and also to collect sediment cores around the seep site to constrain seepage rates via radium isotopes.

航次期间,研究团队在该点位及周边开展了多组CTD剖面测量,以约束水柱结构与镭同位素相关研究。本航次的核心目标为借助Pelagic Research Services公司的"Odysseus"号遥控无人潜水器(ROV),直接采集GC-600点位(27°22.199'N,90°34.262'W)巨羽流(MegaPlume)溢出的烃类样本。此外,本次海上科考还额外开展两项工作:一是在作业点位上下游的断面水柱剖面中采集镭同位素样本,二是在油苗周边采集沉积物岩芯,以通过镭同位素方法约束油苗的溢油速率。
