Raw Data-The Association Between Upward Appearance Comparison and Body Dissatisfaction Among University Students

The dataset, "Raw Data on the Relationship between Upward Appearance Comparison and Body Dissatisfaction among University Students," was collected via the Wenjuanxing platform (https://www.wjx.cn/) from undergraduate students across multiple universities in China between October and November 2025. A total of 710 valid questionnaires were retained for analysis. Grounded in objectification theory, this study measured key variables including upward appearance comparison, body dissatisfaction, body shame, and negative perfectionism to examine the relationship between upward appearance comparison and body dissatisfaction. These data not only offer insights into the mechanisms underlying body dissatisfaction among university students but also provide important references for promoting healthy body image and self-perception among contemporary university students.本数据集题为《大学生上行外貌比较与身体不满关系原始数据》（"Raw Data on the Relationship between Upward Appearance Comparison and Body Dissatisfaction among University Students"），数据通过问卷星（Wenjuanxing）平台（网址：https://www.wjx.cn/）收集，采集对象为中国多所高校的本科生，收集时段为2025年10月至11月，最终保留710份有效问卷用于后续分析。本研究基于客体化理论（objectification theory），测量了上行外貌比较（upward appearance comparison）、身体不满（body dissatisfaction）、身体羞耻（body shame）与消极完美主义（negative perfectionism）等核心变量，旨在考察上行外貌比较与身体不满之间的关联。 本数据集不仅可为揭示大学生群体身体不满的内在机制提供新视角，也可为促进当代大学生塑造健康的身体意象与自我认知提供重要参考。
