Clonal XDR-TB expansion of proto-Beijing M. tuberculosis

In Thailand, high prevalence of lineage 2-Beijing, particularly the modern sublineage associated with drug-resistant TB has been reported, but not lineage 2.1-Proto-Beijing (L2.1). Here we showed that this rare M. tuberculosis genotype is becoming a major challenge to TB control in the country.
