Contents: Table S1 – Screening log of 1,022 records retrieved from Scopus on 1 October 2026, with the inclusion/exclusion decision, exclusion code and reason for each record. Table S2 – Geocoding and classification dataset of the 499 included studies: study site, country, coordinates (WGS84), spatial precision, water-system type, chronological period, study type, Köppen–Geiger climate class and water sources addressed. Figure S1 – Location of the studied water systems by chronological period. File S1 – Python code for the thematic-evolution analysis, maps, annual growth model, Köppen–Geiger classification and water-source rules, with a README. Scopus bibliographic records are not redistributed because of licence restrictions; all records can be re-identified through their Scopus EIDs and the search query given in the article.
