This article investigates the linguocultural aspects of simile as a stylistic device in Sidney Sheldon's novel "If Tomorrow Comes" (1985). Within the framework of the research, 47 similes were extracted from the novel and their semantic, structural, and cultural characteristics were analyzed. The research findings revealed the national-cultural components of similes reflecting American culture, lifestyle, and mentality. Furthermore, the artistic functions of similes in the author's style and their role in expressing the psychological states of characters have been elucidated.本文以西德尼·谢尔顿1985年出版的小说《假如明天来临》(If Tomorrow Comes)为研究对象，探讨了其中作为修辞手段的明喻（simile）的语言文化维度。本研究从该小说中提取出47处明喻，并对其语义、结构与文化特征展开分析。研究结果揭示了明喻中所蕴含的反映美国文化、生活方式与国民心态的民族文化内涵。此外，本研究还阐明了明喻在作者创作风格中的艺术功能，以及其在刻画人物心理状态方面的重要作用。
