Genome sequencing to identify Lemon Frost mutation in Leopard Geckos

The squamates (lizards and snakes) comprise a diverse group of reptiles, with more than 10,000 described species that display extensive variation in a number of important biological traits. Due to a lack of genomic tools, few genetic studies in squamates have been carried out.In this project, we describe a quantitative genetics and genomics approach in the common leopard gecko, Eublepharis macularius, and apply it to dissect the mechanisms underlying white coloration and iridophoroma in the morph called Lemon Frost.
