3D images of fossil planktonic foraminifera in the western Pacific Ocean: a database concerning two biostratigraphic events during the Early Pleistocene

Here we present planktonic foraminifera X-ray images dataset during 1.72-2.15 million years ago scanned with Projection X-ray Microscopy (PXM) and X-ray micro-computed tomography (XMCT) technologies. The dataset including images of Globigerinoidesella fistuolsa, Trilobatus sacculifer, and several Pulleniatina spp. from the sedimentary core ODP Hole 1115B (9 11’S, 151 34’E, water depth 1149 m) in the Solomon Sea. The foraminifera tests were hand-picked and gently cleaned for X-ray images. In total, the dataset contains 20 images, and each image is corresponding to one sample.

本研究公开一套形成于1.72~2.15百万年前的浮游有孔虫（planktonic foraminifera）X射线影像数据集，该数据集通过投影X射线显微镜（Projection X-ray Microscopy, PXM）与X射线显微计算机断层扫描（X-ray micro-computed tomography, XMCT）技术完成扫描。数据集涵盖采自所罗门海ODP 1115B钻孔（南纬9°11′，东经151°34′，水深1149米）沉积岩芯的管拟球室虫（Globigerinoidesella fistuolsa）、囊形三列虫（Trilobatus sacculifer）以及若干普尔登虫属（Pulleniatina spp.）物种的影像数据。所有有孔虫壳体均经人工挑选并进行温和清洗，以用于X射线影像采集。本数据集总计包含20张影像，每张影像对应一个样品。
