Taxa–threat–impact dataset

Here, we compile the first complete, validated, and consistent taxon-specific threat and threat impact dataset for all 1,796 nationally listed threatened (i.e. Vulnerable, Endangered, and Critically Endangered) plants and animals in Australia. The dataset utilises the IUCN Threat Classification Scheme to identify threat types, as well as eight broad-level threats and 49 sub-category threats to help inform conservation actions needed within Australia. This compilation produced 4,918 unique taxon-threat combinations with the most frequently listed threats being <i>habitat loss, fragmentation, and degradation </i>(n=1,211 species),<i> </i>and <i>invasive species and disease </i>(n=962 species).
