立軸雖為最常見之書畫裝裱格式,但常常可見裱件展掛時平整不平整,影響參觀者觀感,殊為可惜。而台灣業界也一直為立軸裝裱不平整所苦,各家多認為是環境溫濕度所致。但各家的經驗又不願公開,造成優良技藝可能逐漸失傳,甚是遺憾,故實有探討之必要。古籍中僅記載裱件覆背上板時間越長越利於裱件平整,但在講求快速的現代,縮短時間才符合經濟效益,且影響裱件平整因素非僅時間一項,水份、工序及使用之材料等皆可能影響裱件平整度。本研究擬利用現代科學方法廣泛的探討影響裱件平整的原因,了解真正影響之因子並尋求解決方法,俾縮短裱件上板時間使裱件得以平整展掛,以作為業界將來裝裱之參考,進而提升書畫整體裝裱水準及增加紙質文物展覽之素質。
Hanging scrolls are the most common mounting format for Chinese calligraphy and paintings, yet it is frequently observed that mounted artworks fail to stay flat when displayed, detracting from viewers' experience and resulting in considerable regret. The Taiwanese cultural heritage mounting industry has long struggled with this flatness issue, with most practitioners attributing the problem to ambient temperature and humidity. However, these industry players are reluctant to share their accumulated expertise, risking the gradual loss of superior craftsmanship—a regrettable outcome that underscores the necessity of in-depth research. While ancient texts only record that longer pressing time on the mounting board benefits the flatness of mounted artworks, the modern pursuit of efficiency prioritizes shortening such processing time. Moreover, flatness is affected by multiple factors beyond just pressing duration, including moisture content, mounting procedures, and the materials used. This study aims to comprehensively investigate the factors affecting the flatness of mounted calligraphy and paintings using modern scientific methods, identify the key influencing variables, and develop corresponding solutions. The goal is to shorten the pressing time on the mounting board while ensuring the mounted artworks can be displayed flat, providing a reference for the industry's future mounting practices, and ultimately improving the overall quality of calligraphy and painting mounting as well as the exhibition standards of paper cultural relics.
