This study evaluated the remediation efficiency of Cd-contaminated wastewater and the carbon sequestration efficiency of three cyanobacterial species (Synechococcus sp., Synechocystis sp., and Microcystis aeruginosa) using cyanobacterial MICP. Key growth and environmental parameters were monitored during cyanobacterial cultivation. Transcriptomic and metabolomic approaches were employed to elucidate the cellular metabolic mechanisms underlying the low-carbon removal of Cd2+ via cyanobacterial MICP.
