Reef fish visual surveys at La Parguera, and Mona Island Puerto Rico, 2004-2017

Data collected during two sampling periods, 2004-2006, and 2017 via underwater 10min, 30 x 2m transects on SCUBA at resampled locations in La Parguera, Puerto Rico and Mona Island, Puerto Rico. During these surveys, all reef fish except Gobiidae, Blenniidae, and Stegastes partitus were sampled. Column definitions are as follows:

Method - Sampling method (i.e. roving / belt transect)
Site - Experimental sampling site
Depth - Depth in meters
Zone - Experimental sampling zone (geomorphological)

Season - Numerical seaon (eg. Winter = 1, Spring = 2, etc)
Period - Experimental sampling period ( La parguera: Before = 2004-2006, After = 2017. Mona: 2005, 2010, 2017)
Surveyor - Diver who collected data
Family - Taxonomic family
Genus - Taxonomic genus
Species- species
Trophic - Trophic abbrevation (eg. P = piscivore, H = Herbivore, SI = Sessile invertivore, MI = Mobile invertivore, Z = Zooplanktivore)
Code - First letter of genus, first 3 letters of species
rov_spp_shared_2005 - species shared in roving counts conducted at Mona in 2005
and 2017. S- Shared , NS - notshared, tran_shared - transect (ie not
applicable)
a - species-specific length-weight parameter
b - species-specific length-weight parameter
code_size - species code + size class (ie. S1 = 0-5cm, S2 = 5-10cm, S3 = 10-15cm,
S4 = 15-20cm, S5 = 20-25cm, S6 = 25-30cm, S7 = 30-35cm, S8 > 35cm)
n - number of fish (counts summed by species)
size_class - fork length in cm
weight_g - weight of individual fish in grams
m2 - area of belt transect (eg. 60m2 in 2017 + 2005 at Mona, 100m2 in 2004-2006 LP)
ind_m2 - density of fish standardized per meter-squared (relevant for LP comparisons)
biomass_m2 - biomass (g) standardized per-meter-squared
total_n - total number of fish summed by survey ID (per transect, method, time, year)
total_bm - total grams of fish biomass summed by survey ID
total_ind_m2 - total density of all fish per meter-squared
