Cooking frequency in North America 2019-2021

As COVID-19 swept across North America in 2020 and 2021, the resulting lockdowns led to an increase in home cooking activity. In the United States, the average adult consumer cooked nearly seven meals per week in 2021, up from 6.2 meals in 2019. Comparing the U.S. with its neighbors Canada and Mexico, the increase in cooking was the largest for Mexicans. In Mexico, the average surveyed respondent cooked nearly 8.5 meals per week in 2021.
