Near-isotropic, reconstructed volume electron microscopy (FIB-SEM) of D. melanogaster whole larva ('igor') (jrc_fly-larva-1)

<b>Sample</b>: Drosophila melanogaster whole larva ('igor').<b>Sample Description</b>: The Drosophila melanogaster whole larva sample, 'igor', was provided by Albert Cardona (HHMI Janelia). The sample underwent chemical fixation with paraformaldehyde (PFA) and glutaraldehyde, followed by osmification. On-section contrasting was performed using uranyl acetate and lead citrate. Rick Fetter (HHMI Janelia) carried out the fixation, staining, and embedding processes, while Wei-Peng Lee (HHMI Janelia) conducted the heavy metal contrasting. The sample was sectioned with an iTome by David Peale and Harald Hess (HHMI Janelia). Finally, the sections were imaged by David Peale (HHMI Janelia).<b>Protocol</b>: Chemical fixation with PFA and Glutaraldehyde, followed by osmification, then on-section contrasting with uranyl acetate and lead citrate.<b>Contributions</b>: Sample provided by Albert Cardona (HHMI Janelia).
