Career Anxiety in the Age of Artificial Intelligence: Survey Data of University Students in Bangladesh

Career anxiety has become a significant concern in today’s rapidly evolving job market, particularly in developing countries where employment growth cannot keep pace with the rising number of graduates. The swift progress of artificial intelligence (AI) has further intensified this concern by transforming industries and automating many traditional job roles. This dataset presents results from an online survey conducted at multiple universities in Bangladesh, including Daffodil International University, Jahangirnagar University, American International University Bangladesh, University of Dhaka and Chittagong University of Engineering and Technology. A total of 3,156 students from diverse academic years and departments participated. The survey captures students’ understanding of AI, their usage of AI tools, and the extent to which they perceive AI as a threat to their desired career paths. It also includes self-reported levels of career anxiety and the actions students are taking to prepare for an AI-driven workforce. This dataset offers valuable insights for educators, researchers, and policymakers. It can support curriculum enhancement, aid academic planning, and serve as a comparative benchmark for future studies involving predictive modeling, labor market trends, behavioral analysis, and human–AI collaboration.
