Transcriptomic analysis of Bacteroides ovatus ATCC8483 on mucosal glycans and mucins.

The goal of this study is examining the transcriptome of Bacteroides ovatus that grow on mucosal polysaccharides or Type 2 mucin as a sole carbon source. B. ovatus were grown on 0.25% saccharides (glucose, chondroitin sulfate, hyaluronic acid, heparin) or Type 2 mucin as a sole carbon source or GAM medium anaerobically. Once cells reached to logarithmic growth phase, total RNAs were extracted. Procedure for RNA-seq sample preparation followed that Illumina protocol available from the manufacture.
